My eldest daughter suffers from tummy aches. It began last year when she had strep throat five times in a row. Her pediatrician, then, told us that the lymph nodes in your stomach can swell from strep. Well, after the strep was finally out of her and our home, she still went on with the tummy aches. We decided to see a GI doc to do some further investigating. He believed it was acid reflux, but wanted to run blood work anyway. We had her tested for celiac and scheduled an endoscopy, just to eliminate any other things. All came back fine! So she was put on Prevacid for a few weeks and it worked. She was tummy ache free… until NOW! A whole year later.
This time, it started again after she was diagnosed with strep. It has been 3 weeks of no strep, but she’s still talking about her tummy troubles. Her new pediatrician thinks it may be something she is eating. We have to keep a very detailed journal of everything she eats right now. The girl LOVES yogurt so the first thing we are taking out is that.
I have been doing some more research online about wheat intolerance. It has crossed my mind that maybe wheat really is what is bothering her. I am not too familiar with it, so if your child has a wheat allergy, I would love to get your input, stories, books to read, etc. Or if your child had a similar situation and it ended up being something else, let me know too. I am determined to figure this mystery out!
